Jeremy Menez?

By: ed_ | October 10th, 2007

Just heard a rumour that Rafa is tracking the Monaco number 10, Jeremy Mendes. He’s supposed to be one of the brightest lights in French football right now – which doesn’t fill me with confidence. Just look at Cisse.

From what I can see on YouTube, he’s skillful and not short of pace. Finishing looks a bit suspect though.

My first blush is that I’m not sure where he’d fit in. I don’t think Rafa is ready to give up on Kuyt yet, it’s too early to get rid of Voronin and Torres is pretty much untouchable. That just leaves Peter Crouch – a completely different player.

If it’s true, it’s interesting and will, hopefully, be a move geared around giving us more mobility and creativity.

Does anyone else have a scouting report you’d like to share with the class?

why on earth does rafa want to sign menez?to add another person to his big squad and so he will have one more option to rotate the team.he already has 4 strikers who if given a proper run of games will score goals…hope rafa stays away from him…

I wouldn’t worry about it, Menez won’t be leaving Monaco this year, and even if he does, he won’t be moving to England.

I think the world knows by now that French players don’t do well at Liverpool. It’s like a curse, though they do well in all other teams.

Swapnil – i believe that Rafa will be looking to offload one of his strikers come January.

Inara – not all French players do badly at Liverpool. What about Bruno Cheyrou…oh…

    a sudoku for you?

    6, 6, 4, 7, 5, 5, 6, 2, 9, 7, 5, 5…… fill in the next number.. cos that will be the ‘rotating weeble’s next amount of changes made after the International ‘break……’

and you wonder why you will never win the Premiership under the rotating ‘weeble’. at least I know where I stand!!!!

KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH!!!

I don’t really see the need for another striker. Frankly, I’d rather see Babel at striker and another winger brought in.

Doesn’t look as though this guy will really fit in at the club to be honest, he’s young and talented yeah but he’s already 20 and would probably just waste away in the reserves to be honest. I wouldn’t worry about him slotting in with the amount of strikers either, at Monaco they mainly deploy him as a central midfielder but he can score goals, he’s already got 3 in 9 this season.
Don’t really think another youngster’s the answer anyway, is it just me or in’t our youth team one of the best around?

    Andy – yawn…

Free Bet Man – we may need another midfielder. see my “double a beef” post.

Melvin – I’d like to see Babel at striker, although he may be a little too similar to Torres for them to do well together. I’d rather see him own the left wing…

Melvin wood, You got it spot on . I’d say make Babel a striker and bring in gamst pedersen or quaresma.

yeah i agree y not use babbel upfront hes got pace, skill and looks like he could add to the scoring charts i thought thats y he was bought so we dont need 2 purcase another striker as he can play upfront or midfield? i feel we need another defender as we r short when an injury is picked up in the back line!

I’ve heard that Riise might well be on his way out of the club so that would definitely leave us short all the way down the left.
There’s a guy that plays for Fluminese that I’ve heard might be available and he’s young enough and talented enough to become just as good if not better than John Arne.
His names Marcelo and according to the clubs website he’s still only 18, from what I’ve heard he could be massive in the next few years but I’m not sure if they’re reliable sources as it could well be Internet hear say.
Has anyone else heard of this guy?

Fair enough Corey, to start off with Menez might find himself more of a quad player than first name on the teamsheet bit if he has the talent Rafa will play him more often than not.
The gaffer knows talent when he sees it.

Menez is better than all the players Liverpool recruited this season. Including Torres.
    He’s a problem child though

jeremy would be fitting in. voronin can be sold to some teams like birmingham, fulham he would be fitting into those teams…not “LIVERPOOL”…crouch is tall and strong…he completly fits in the squad…and kuyt…he is a strong contented who can come in the 65th or leave at a time like tthis…and torres and menez…number 9 and 10(voronin leaving) would make a great combination and just signing another midfielder like Nasri,Silva,J.Nevas would be great for the team…i dontt think gerrard is completly ok being the Center attacking midfielder because he needs a cam like him who he could pass to…not always to torres…but some1 similar torres who plays in a position where gerrard does…and about alonso, lucas they can play in matches which they are confident to win….
