We are the Champions.

By: Brian | April 26th, 2007

The FA Youth Cup Champions that is. It took extra time and penalty kicks at Old Trafford this evening, but the kids got it done. So much sweeter that we beat United. Great job, boys.

It’s only the fifth time a team has repeated as the FA Youth Cup Champions and the amazing part is, most of the players from last year’s squad were not eligible for this year’s. Our future looks bright but I’m curious to see if there are going to be any Steven Gerrards, Jamie Carraghers, or Michael Owens coming off this team. It would be nice.

After the first leg at Anfield, we trailed 2-1. Thank God they don’t do the away goals rule, because we would have been screwed. We took a 1-0 lead into extra time today thanks to Robbie Threlfall. We then managed to convert all four penalty tries while United missed two.

I’m happy we’ve added two pieces of silverware to the display case, but the Champion’s League is what I want the most.
