wingers are a must, i will agree with that .. that’s why i don’t see why everyone is saying WE NEED TO SIGN BARRY .. last time i checked, Barry is not a winger .. he might be able to play on the left side of MIDFIELD but he’s not the type player we’re looking for .. forget Barry ..

guys, we simples need a left sided player. a winger. or left midfield player.

barry fits the bill. if we cant get barry, rafa’s gonna look for someone else.

bottom line.. we sold kewell, riise, and now we dont have and left footed players that attack (Aurelio doesnt really attack, nor does he score).

on top of that…. we need wingers.

yossi-pennant just dont cut it.. those players arent the best wingers we could have, heck, yossi is a better support striker than a winger.

and babel.. well, he never uses his left foot, he’s very predictable. which is why rafa uses him as a super sub, depending on his speed to score last minute goals in a match.

i say sell yossi-pennant-voronin and heck, even finnan or arbeola.. and get some wingers. Left and Right.

So Mark, you will like Liverpool remain in 3rd or 4th placing this season to suggest they stick to the kind of play they are. My actual concern is on wide player, I think Kyut doesn’t fit in, although he is a work horse. Stevie can always switch to replace Kean behind Torres, and have Masch or Xabi to cover holding position. This is kind of option. I just feel that we have enough decent players that can run with the ball, and did not make the best of them.
We all love Liverpool, do we want Liverpool to continue branded as Long-Ball tactic team?
BTW, I not only watched actual football, I play actual football.

I’m with you, mark. Stevie absolutely cannot be our holding midfielder – especially when Masch is back. Stevie is one of the world’s supreme talents, but I’d still take Masch as a holding midfielder. We need Babel’s pace out on the left and Gerrard’s creativity on the right to be able to form any kind of decent attack.

And I’d still take Xabi over Barry any day.

so, antonio, you’re suggesting that liverpool limit our best player, hell one of the best players in the world, by making him hold in midfield? if i’m not mistaken most of our goals last season came from gerrard playing just off torres. lacking in creativity? hardly. i think you need to stop playing footy video games and watch some actual football.

If Benitez continue to play Kuyt, it will limit Liverpool playing from the wide. Not much fans may agree my point, but I believe we have enough decent players around.Put Pennant, regularly on the right. Other bold try, Benayoun as attacking mifield. Forget about Alonso or Barry, Gerrard can do a good holding midfield. Throw in Babel on the left, and we have 3 attacking minded player, the like of Yossi, Pennant & Babel that care to take on defender, switching position at time. Other wise Liverpool will be the same old self, lacking in creativity, bore to watch, not to mention title contender .
