See you in the stands, friend.

Not good news for Liverpool’s match-winners ahead of Saturday’s game at the Stadium of Light. Torres aggravated his adductor while on international duty, and Gerrard’s groin flared up in the match against Ukraine. Krygiakos is cleared, but he’s not likely to feature against Sunderland. Trying times for Liverpool, who desperately need a good run of form in the next few weeks.

Sunderland are no push-overs, currently sitting eighth in the table. Steve Bruce has them playing quality football, and Darren Bent is a man on fire, scoring 7 so far. They drew 2-2 at Old Trafford, with only an injury time own-goal keeping them from taking all 3 points from the defending champions. Sunderland have also signed a former Liverpool man, Bolo Zenden, formerly of Marseille. While never a worldbeater with Liverpool, he’s a Premier League veteran and will surely benefit Sunderland.

Maybe it’s a good thing that Liverpool are forced to play without their “two-man team” tomorrow. They certainly performed well last season at times without Gerrard and/or Torres, and they’ll need a strong performance tomorrow.
