Hillsborough Memorial Game
By: Ed | May 14th, 2009
Tonight will be the Hillsborough Memorial Game, organized by Kenny Dalglish and wife Marina to benefit the Marina Dalglish Appeal. The funds raised in support of the game will go towards building of a new Radiotherapy Unit at University Hospital in Aintree.
The All-Star squad tonight will include Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham, Mike Newell, Alan Irvine, Nigel Clough, Des Walker, Dave Watson, Alan Stubbs, Trevor Steven and Graham Stuart, along with celebrities Joe Calzaghe, Nicky Byrne, Craig David and Gethin Jones.
The real draw for the game will be the Anfield legends, which includes Kenny Dalglish, Robbie Fowler, John Aldridge, Ian Rush, Peter Beardsley, Ronnie Whelan, Gary Gillespie, Jan Molby, Gary Ablett, Steve Staunton, Jamie Redknapp, Steve McManaman, Gary McAllister and Don Hutchison. Minding the net for the legends will be Paul Harrison, the Liverpool Academy graduate who lost his father and uncle at Hillsborough.
It’s sure to be a great night at Anfield…full coverage of the event at the official site, which includes interviews with the Legends and photos. It doesn’t look like LFCTV will be televising the event, but it will be televised on ITV4 at 7:00pm in England. Streams located here.
