Gerrard misses out on wine country
By: Jim | October 17th, 2006As Dunk over at KopTalk pointed out, oh-so-presciently, it might be a good idea for Steven Gerrard to pick up a mystery knack on the leg and miss Liverpool’s Champions League away tie at Bordeaux.
Lo and behold, my morning paper – or, what passes for the morning paper in late 2006 – tells me Stevie G. is being held out against Bordeaux.
It’s only a precautionary measure, Rafa Benitez says. You got it, Rafa. Can’t take any chances with that tricky hamstring Gerrard picked up against Blackburn. Nope, wouldn’t have anything to do with going to see this guy on Sunday.
Not at all. Gotta keep Stevie out of France – for his health. Never mind my sanity in an away tie in France, were LFC is 1-6 all time in European competition.
Whatever, maybe Smicer gets nostalgic for the old days and puts one in his own net for the Reds.
