Honestly, Alonso, with respect to Carragher and Kuyt, has been Liverpool’s most valuable player so far this season. His intelligent play, consistency, willingness to put a boot in, and the fact that teams have to respect his ability to hit a killer ball has made the squad click in a way that they haven’t in a long, long time.

I also wonder if Rafa’s going to start Babel as a striker one of these days, either by himself with Gerrard in support or partnering Torres/Keane–he gave Chelsea all sorts of problems at the back and was unlucky not to score. With Riera, Kuyt, and Pennant firmly entrenched, it seems that his best shot is to run through the middle and absolutely terrify back lines with his pace, strength, and trickery.

Aurelio has a cracker left foot.. but I agree, when he’s playing, #5 should be taking the free kicks.

I’m so stoked to see Agger back in the middle with Carra.. he has the pace and poise of a 10 year vet and one of the most ridiculous shots in the Premiership.
