David NGog Completes Bolton Move

Early in the summer it seemed as though Ngog would head to Sunderland as part of the Jordan Henderson deal, and even after that move fell through there never seemed any doubt he would find his way out of Liverpool when the window was said and done. More recently, it was believed a successful move to Bolton hinged only on Liverpool’s ability to acquire a more seasoned backup striker who wouldn’t need the games the young Frenchman does to further develop. Now, with the move to bring Craig Bellamy back to Anfield appearing back on, NGog moves on to a club where he will hopefully find that playing time and a chance to develop into the striker he showed flashes of at Liverpool.

As the official site said in it’s least terse official transfer announcement in history, we wish the best for the young striker who came in on the cheap, kept his head down, and did his best in what were at times less than ideal circumstances. Here’s hoping he comes good in the end.

Also tonight, with the window winding down, Liverpool have officially confirmed the long-rumoured capture of young American striker Villyan Bijev, though with the player unable to receive a work permit at present he has been immediately loaned out to Germany’s Fortuna Dusseldorf.

    Wow, that was bizarre.
    - Bellamy for 2 years is more than I would have expected but
    - squad number 39 says it all, fill in squad player, different to Maxi, but still a striker.
    - Speedy winger gives Downing some Down time (geddit?).

    Raul
    - probably more than doubled his wages
    - he's 28, so this is his last senior contract
    - champions league footy
    - Lampard won't last
    - LFC were probably neutral on the deal due to his age
    - and maybe not scoring enough to be a 'must keep'.

    Such an intelligent player though.

If Gerrard is fit, we won't miss him, but if not then I still think we will.

  • Joejag

    Meireles has gone :(

  • Hoppyhippie

Well I take that back, Degen is gone. Absolutely gutted spoilt my transfer window.

  • Dirk Kuyt Industries

For all the money we've spent this transfer window, the refusal to tack on another 30K - or whatever it was - to Meireles' cheap deal is just really, really puzzling.

  • Dirk Kuyt Industries

I mean, 30K a week extra for Meirels is 1.5M a year. Assuming he's got another two years or so left, that's essentially paying a 3-4M "transfer fee" to keep a really damn good player.

Now, at worst, he's gone, and at best, he's pissed off for four months until the whole thing reboots in January.

Just zero sense in it all.

In a lot of ways, the Bolton game was a microcosm of this window. Awesome shit happened for a long while, but the end (Klasnic goal, Meireles transfer request) is randomly bitter.

  • paul

Wow, Raul wants out. Didn't see that coming. That's what you get from pissing around with his original deal. *sob* *sob*

  • kenny

I'm happy to see Bellamy sign, but torn to see Raul hand in a transfer request. Where did that even come from... I love him

  • Raul Meireles. Written transfer request. Last half hour of transfer window. Yes, it's true. Thoughts, Ed and Noel? Like me, you've both been pro-Raul throughout all the talk of him being shipped out. Now he's requesting to be moved on. What're your takes?

  • Ed

    I want to die.

  • Suarez from the car park...

    I want to kill you.

  • Mark

What a wet blanket on an awesome summer window.  I can't even be mad at him.  I'm just sad.

  • There goes Woy's legacy..

  • I know he was Woy's signing, but he's hardly part of Woy's legacy. He hated life under the Slodge. He'd start good runs only to for the team to lose the ball before he's even halfway through his run. Shit, he was bypassed entirely but the backline's hoofs. Wasn't till Kenny came round with his Midas touch that Meireles came into his own. If he does go, I'll be sad to see him go but if he stays... he's got some fences to mend. Or is it bridges? Who knows. Something needs mending.

  • I know I know. All valid points you made there, but this is the only way I can properly
digest the news so let me be...

  • Haha, fair enough. Window's closed now. I hope no last minute deal was reached...

  • Suarez from the car park...

    no such luck.

    Raul submits transfer request.

  • AustinRed

What the F? Never imagined a squad without both Meireles and Aquilani.  This definitely ends the window on a negative note, and subdues my enthusiasm a tad.  And yeah, we're somehow now thin again in midfield.

  • dtw.

Just when I was thinking all was good. Damnit.

  • Guest

Should have kept Aqui, weird now it seems our midfield is thin

  • Red2death

I beg to differ.  We'll do fine without him.

Still sad though.  And very puzzling about the timing.  Does Chelsea ask all their targets to do this, or only the Liverpool ones?

There's also the remote possibility the site got hacked.  We'll know all very soon.

  • kenny

I do NOT think we will do fine without him... Really now?

  • Guest

Sky sports also said Raul handed in the transfer. but "I beg to differ.  We'll do fine without him" We shouldn't look to do "fine" keeping aqui would hav added more than not having him

  • Red2death

Agreed.  I mean, our squad would definitely be better with Raul than without.  And also with Aqua than without.  That said, if we were going to unexpectedly lose one of our better players, I'd much rather it be from midfield than anywhere else.  At least it's not Agger, or Reina.

  • Zach

Uhhhhh WTF where did this come from?!

  • Zach

Ed, Noel, God of football, Fowler or anyone... I'm crying for answers here. This has gotta be a joke...

  • Sue

Still no offers for Lucas. Wonder why no one wants him?

  • Suarez from the car park...

    Still no friends?

  • Ed

Holy shit, no offers for Suarez either. Bust!

  • Apparently he's indispensable.

  • Dirk Kuyt Industries

Still no grasp of football. Wonder why no one likes you?

  • Sue

Ouch, touched a nerve. Lucas is why we will never win a title. No top side would play him. Wake up to the reality, fool.

  • redtrev73

Appreciate your positivity as per usual. Love you.

  • Dirk Kuyt Industries

Yes, dropping a player that makes twice as many tackles as anyone else on the team sounds pretty smart to me.

As far as the top side thing, you realize he starts for a top international side over a player who starts for the EPL champions? Enough tops thrown in there for you?

My hat is off to all Lucas trolls though; in this day and age, sticking your head that far up your own ass takes a lot more work than simply sitting back and watching him destroy attackers weekly.

  • Sue

Yes, that top side you mention looked utter tripe. Maybe they'll play their decent players next time?

  • Ed

Not too sad to see Ngog...go, but really hope things turn out well for him at Bolton and beyond. Never made a fuss and did what he could. One I'll continue to follow for sure.

  • Suarez from the car park...

wondered if we could have loaned him for a year, esp to someone like Coyle.

  • Geza

Decent player with interesting potential, but not to the extent he would ever be good enough to  make a difference at LFC. I think that this move shows just as much as any of the big signings how serious NESV are.

  • Hoppyhippie

Great business this window. Got rid of Roy's painful memories and most of the dead wood, glad we couldn't find anyone to see the potential in Philip Degen though. That is a relief.

  • Suarez from the car park...

    wiping my brow

  • tGryffin

Poulson doesn't get his own post?

  • CheekyFellow

You really want a whole post on him?

  • Didn't seem a whole lot to add to what went up yesterday in the Coates officially signed/Poulsen transfer accepted quick hitter.

  • Tom Foolery

    So... Craig Bellamy, huh?

I actually thought he was quite a player when he was with us, I rated him above Dirk at the time. His movement was the best quality, I remeber dashing runs that opened up defences for others, similar to Suarez (not a fair comparison, I know. But, he is/was quick, and worked hard for the cause).

I'd obviously prefer another option, but beggers can't be choosers.

I also liked David too, lots of potential, however sometimes seeming soft or unsure of himself. Bueno Suerte.

  • Suarez from the car park...

Yep, those dashing runs fit in with Kenny's style of quick move and passes from wide or deep.

Could end up being more effective than Raul's runs, though thats hard to imagine after last season's Man Ure game.

  • Dirk Kuyt Industries

    With you on Bellamy.

I'm just depressed that we apparently matched his 90,000 a year wages (for two years??). He'll make an adequate backup, but this is exactly the type of foolish contract we got rid of today in Cole and Poulsen.

  • Suarez from the car park...

have we seriously stumped up £90k/year??????

  • Dirk Kuyt Industries

Fingers crossed, but doesn't look good... from the Guardian:

"Bellamy... still has two years remaining on a £95,000-a-week contract
at City and his refusal to accept reduced terms elsewhere deterred
    several Premier League clubs...

    ...with Liverpool willing to offer
similar personal terms, Bellamy is expected to become Dalglish's seventh
    signing of the summer."

  • Suarez from the car park...

Well at 30K / wk  more than we would have paid him is £3m extra over the 2 years.  We get a pacey striker/winger as backup.  Not too foolish if his legs hold up.
Thought his pay was £80K/wk from his Cardiff loan when Citeh paid 80% of his wages.

  • paul

90k per game would be better. We have some decent players "earning" a lot less than Bellamememe.
