Birmingham Result and Diving Drogba

By: CSD | April 27th, 2008

Sorry for the delayed post, but I really couldn’t think of anything to write other than, “it happened like I thought it’d happen.” Rafa rotated out key players to give them a rest before Wednesday and they drew, securing their spot in Champions League qualification next season.

For a good rundown of the match, check out eplmatches.blogspot.com. I was going to post the same highlight video they have here, but you can just follow the link. After reading Rob’s post on the Champions League blog, I decided to post some different videos.

Other than the fact that Torres is as much a diver as Drogba, It does seem a strange way to approach the build up to a game.

Is that right? I’d like to see what evidence this statement is based on other than still throwing a fit about Materazzi getting himself sent off because apparently that’s why Inter couldn’t ever find the back of the net in two matches. I’ve always seen Torres make the extra effort to keep his feet and avoid other players. Maybe that’s why he has 30 goals and Drogba has 13.

Here’s some clips of the real drama queen…

and finally.. a funny one:

Ah come on, it was all in good humour. I just thought it was funny that Rafa was trying to influence the ref before the game had even kicked off when a few of his own are not adverse to ‘winning’ the odd free-kick or pen themselves. Gerrard is worse than Torres for it, but Torres was the one that Rafa picked out in the quote you didn’t show in your post.

My post was a slightly fun take on the idea of Rafa sitting through 19 exceptionaly dull football matches to be fair.

did anyone else notice how much Alex McLeish looks like Horatio from CSI: Miami? damn! the similarity is UNCANNY.

Torres a bigger diver than Drogba? the only way Drogs doesn’t go to ground is if gravity physically won’t allow it .. Drogba is Issac Newtons bitch.

No-one said that Torres was a bigger diver than Drogba though. The exact quote is ‘as bad’. While he might not actually be as bad my point was rather that you shouldn’t throw stones when your house is made of glass.

Eh, I’d say Rob has a good point, but it’s hard to agree with anyone defending Drogba. He’s just so damn melodramatic, every slight touch is a big deal. I think what separates him from others who have selective balance is that he is so smug. My glass house is plexi-glass, so stones don’t break through as easily.
