Anfield Banter: Adam Hammill hat trick & nothing much else
By: Brian | July 17th, 2007There’s really nothing new going on in LFC world, nothing major that is. The Giorgio Chiellini talk seems to be gaining some momentum, Crouchy is whining about the lack of recognition for his accomplishments, there’s that Man U fella that I won’t talk about anymore, Kuyt voicing his desire for a quick start for the team, and ‘modest’ Fernando Torres prefers EasyJet over a charter flight. Like I said, much ado about nothing.
And then there’s Adam Hammill, following his debut with Southampton against Eastleigh, where I erroneously reported that he didn’t score when he actually did, netted three more times against virtually inexistent Norwegian side Svarstad last night. I say ‘inexistent’ because it appears that most have never heard of the club and apparently they had to borrow players from other clubs just to have enough to compete. Though not exactly a quality opponent, it was still good to see Hammill find the net a few times in a 12-0 Saints rout. The 19-year-old got to play both right and left wing and has George Burley and staff pretty excited about having him on board for the year. I hope he stays fit and helps Southampton return to the Premiership.
I’ll be back in a bit to preview the Werder Bremen friendly which starts in under five hours. Torres is expected to make his debut.

i tend to agree with you on most things, however i do think heinze would be a good signing for us, and i believe the only reason you are not liking this, is simply the fact he plays for the scum. This i find a little childish, if ronaldo or rooney perhaps became available and expressed a desire to play for our great club would u still be in the same frame of mind?

Actually Scott, it has nothing to do with him coming from Man U, though it doesn’t help. If Vidic or Giggs wanted to come and were somehow available, by all means I would want them to play for us. Rooney hates Liverpool as he was a childhood Everton diehard and had a tryout with us and made a mockery of it. Ronaldo wouldn’t fit into our team as he is more of an attacking midfielder with free range and what we need is a disciplined traditional right winger like Pennant and Finnan when he plays up. Gerrard is our ‘free range’ box-to-box midfielder and two’s a crowd. Neither Carrick nor Hargreaves are in Mascherano’s class, so that would be pointless. Rio’s lost a step and Neville is a Manc scumbag who isn’t welcome and wouldn’t come anyways. The rest of the team aren’t worth commenting on.
If Heinze was the player he was at the 2006 World Cup, I’d welcome him with open arms, but he hasn’t displayed that form since. He had a decent Copa, but nothing worth bragging about and was absolutely useless in the final.
hahahah, love the enthusiasm but let’s keep politics and especially ‘the village idiot’ out of it. Thanks.

Lol Brian..I’m with you man Heinze was really a bad player with Psg still is a bad player to me.He’s unsure on the ball. Also makes too many mistakes, and fouls. If he was good like say Ince(came in quite late) then problem at all.
