Video: Liverpool v. West Brom Full Highlights

By: Noel | October 30th, 2011

The insanity of Arsenal going to Stamford Bridge and beating Chelsea 5-3 may have taken up a solid plurality of Match of the Day yesterday, leaving the runtime a little light when it came to Liverpool versus West Brom and so robbing us of the chance to watch highlights of Charlie Adam trying out his special edition Adidas FlubberZero boots, but for the time being it’s the best we’ve got. And at least the commentary isn’t quite as ridiculously biased as the ESPN UK feed that was also seen by American viewers on Fox Soccer, where the announcers openly rooted for Roy Hodgson while bemoaning an unjust world.

So until an every touch compilation of Lucas bossing midfield comes along. Or until a compilation of Suarez being Suarez comes along. Or even until one highlighting the most assured performance in years from a shockingly dominant Martin Skrtel pops up. Well, until then, it’ll have to do. You might want to hit stop when the actual highlights end, though, as we won’t be held responsible if you try to stab Hodgson through your screen when he’s given the chance to pontificate on proceedings.

p.s.: Backheel backheel backheel backheel. Back heel. Back-heel? Any way you want to slice and dice it…

Has anybody seen Paul Scharner's comments this morning? Asked for his verdict on Suarez's
performance, Scharner said: 'It was a nice dive for the penalty and that
got Liverpool well started for the game.It put us under pressure and we weren't good enough to respond.
'He (Suarez) is very good at winning penalties. He's one of the best on the planet, in fact. I had a good view of it."

    A few of things he didn't mention;

1 Replays showed it was a penalty.
2 Suarez didn't even appeal for it.
3 Lfc dominated the game from the start.

As for Paul Scharner he needs to stop making excuses for the inept and poor tactical play from his manager and WestBrom team.

And just for everybody's amusement, here it is again...

It's an absolute farce how media, opposing players and managers alike are opting simply to raise their hands in agreement (& glee) that Suarez is a Diver (or Racist) to take the focus away from their own poor performances. How can a player be labelled a diver when clear evidence exists to prove that while their are instances where Suarez might milk the situation, there is always clear contact. To label his fall in the last game against Hodgepodge's little army as a dive is such a longthrow when he did not even look for the referee to award a foul. Where is the intention in that? How can a player be labelled a racist when there is only hot air (spewing from Evra's mouth) yet not a single concrete evidence as per the claims made? Even after the lengthy "inquiries and investigations" and whatnots, there is nothing conclusive?

How can the world blame us if we ever take an "us against them" approach when we see how one of our own is trampled over so easily and blatantly? People would love nothing more for Dalglish and Liverpool to fail and they'd certainly do anything to promote it if recent events are anything to go by.

Pretty sick of seeing all that piss being paraded by the media as the gospel.

tou know what fuck scarner!fuck woy!fuck SAF!who gives a shit what they say.we went there for 3 points,we got them so woy and scharner can kiss my ass...fucking sore loosers...

  • brother jon

'us against them' can be useful, but it's definitely exhausting.  i'd opt for fuck 'em (scharner and woy, in this case) - they're embarrassing themselves plenty with this we-were-all-set-to-win-til-the-other-team-scored bs. they don't even claim there was no foul - just blather about 'no intent' and 'jerome was careful'. Next!

  • Waiting for Sterling

I feel like after seeing this game, all we need is Enrique on the left.  We don't even need a winger or a back.  Just J dog.

  • Ed

"It put us on the back foot from the start."

No telling if Roy was talking about the penalty decision or his tactical approach.

  • Latortillablanca

"I didn't want to say what I said about the Everton game, but I did because I felt that if I'd said anything other than that it would have appeared to be, or be seen to be, or appeared to be seen to appear to be something which I felt would have been seen to be something or something was happening which I was doing which I wasn't"

my grandmother, 8 years deep into dementia/alzheimer's, comes up sounding like Emerson or Plato when compared to uncle woy's gibberish...

  • brother jon

is that a real quote?? (i stopped watching after the 1st 25 words of his intv).  for such an innocuous guy he is pretty hard to stomach. i'd sack my manager within the hour if i heard him say shit like that
    .

  • Latortillablanca

it might be a lil fudged, but ya that was the gist of a quote after everton last year. actually, the initial quote was after everton where he was goin on about how positive we were, then this was like midweek when people were askin him wtf exactly was so good bout the everton performance.

  • CheekyFellow

What was wrong with his tactical approach?

  • Ryan

deciding to go with a backshrimp defense.; shrimp, referring to the shape of the usual back "line". See Carroll's goal for reference.

  • Ed

It was more of a cheap shot about his managerial style on the whole, not necessarily anything specific about yesterday.

  • Suarez from the car park...

    you are a cheeky fellow.

  • Latortillablanca

boy's got more cheek than Vanity "The 8th" Wonder... (worth the google, trust me... although likely nsfw unless you work from home)

  • kenny

I CAN wait until the Swansea match, I shouldn't be scared, but I am a little. Knowing what I know.

  • Waiting for Sterling

You should be scared of the upcoming matches after that.  Big games.

  • Latortillablanca

i think its a fair point actually - these are exactly the types of games teams overlook... newly promoted side, tripleheader of tough fixtures directly after... thankfully i think norwich did us a favor, we won't underestimate anyone till christmas at least.

  • ShedYourYellow

Bit of a hiccup in your first sentence, Noel; Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-3, not 5-2.

On the other hand, feels good to beat West Brom. Feels damn good.

  • Fixed; thanks. Though in my defense, I've made far, far worse mistakes in my time here. Wait, that doesn't help...

  • JPR

It's OK Ms. Yellow. Noel was probably taking away JT's goal for the way he disappeared on Arsenal's 4th when the grass ate him up and for his sorry explanation for the QPR game.

  • Tom Foolery

Now that he's not with the club, I can find the humor in a Hodgson presser. Constantly finding ways to deflect the blame from his own backside despite the glaring truth slapping him across his floppy jowls...Hilarious!

  • McrRed

Think the highlights and Noel's commentary should have made more of the teeth-gnashing/coat-throwing that was instrumental (or at least mental) in Roy's set-up (or upset)...
