Sunderland Recap
By: CSD | February 2nd, 2008
It’s about time that we finally met expectations. The first half looked like more of the same with few opportunities being created by either team. Martin Skrtel made another start at Anfield and showed some quality defending.
In the second half, the imposters who had been wearing the red shirts for the past few games were shipped out and the real Liverpool squad finally turned up. The tide of the game shifted after a long cross from Jamie Carragher found the head of Peter Crouch. That goal re-energized the team and soon saw Torres make a run to grab a goal of his own.
To Sunderland’s credit, they played more aggressively and created more chances when they were 2 down than they had earlier in the match. Unfortunately, they were denied two penalties, that, honestly, should have probably been awarded. Liverpool, however, was awarded a penalty at the other end and Gerrard sealed the fate of Sunderland.
Final Score: LFC 3 - 0 Sunderland

I have supported the mighty reds >30 years and I was absolutely astonished at the so called “team’s” first half inadequacie. PASS and MOVE is the Liverpool way - or was…..We are so far behind the scum, the arse and that other London lot insofar as teamwork and penetrative football is concerned, that it deeply saddens me. Thank God for the Liverpoolfc.tv channel…..At least I can watch and relive the good ‘ole days when if a team scored against us first it was a deathwish - esp. at Anfield. “Rafa!…..sort your life out”

The truth is that some plyers lack confidence., and in the first half that seemed especially true. Once the first goal was scored you could see it coming back.
However, luck plays an important part in football and yesterday we got it in buckets with 2 pens denied and a dangerous freekick hit by a Jonny Wilkinson wannabe.Posted from

did Crouch get subbed for Kuyt so he could rest for the midweek England game? to help save him for Chelsea? or because Rafa was embarrassed that he scored one & set one up?
the big english man made the little spanish man look kinda silly ..Posted from

He didn’t come on until the 83′ so Crouch was probably pretty tired by then and Rafa probably just wanted to use up the last substitution to kill some time.
