Short term pain for long term gain?

By: ed | October 3rd, 2007

It’s hard to have a season-long view of rotation when the team plays in such a disjointed, insipid and uninspired manner.

Perhaps we’ll be looking back to September/October as the month where we trod water while others burnt out, but the fact is, that was not the performance we were looking for.

Five points behind Marseille and three points behind Porto is not insurmountable, but we do need to pull our fingers out in what should have been a straight forward group.

From what I heard, the game was pretty dire. There was no imagination and no urgency - players were dropping too deep to get the ball and straying offside too much when the ball was, finally, played forward.

It was hard for the club’s official commentator to get excited over and, in this blogger’s opinion, it really showed how badly we’re missing Alonso’s vision.

Tottenham next - let’s hope Rafa can get it sorted by Sunday.

Crouch doesn’t deserve to start… Ever. Kuyt should’ve been in from the start; period.

    Leto played terribly.

Everytime Liverpool possesed the ball in the first half, it somehow bounced off their feet and out of play.

yeah bismal perfomance watched the game from the off we never looked like scoring until towards the end when we applied abit of pressure. dropping to deep, second to the ball sums up our performances over the past couple of weeks! surely it can only get better??!

I just got done watching the game on DVR and it was horrible. In the second half we got completely owned, and only had a few chances to score, including one in the 91st minute when Torres hit the post. He really didn’t have an angle to score, so you cant fault him there.

What a disappointment. I avoided the internet until I got home for school only to see the Pool lose. Ugh.

I don’t think Crouch was the best bet upfront, Kuyt should have been the way to go.

what the hell do you mean, “from what ive heard”?!?!?

so somebody who doesnt even watch the games writes on here?? if this is taken off i will be disgusted!

see my comment below, but what’s more amazing than this yahoo’s outrage is the fact he can’t even copy paste. my exact words were ‘From what I heard”. which means something completely different to “From what I’ve heard”.

    Thanks. For. That.

Have you thought that maybe because he’s in the States, the games are in the afternoon and not at night and that he might have to work for a living or go to school or do something other than watch football his whole life.
Yo got to be a little more laid-back. He’ll watch the game and give you his analysis.

Yeh go easy on him, the only way I can watch in the states is because I’m a student and don’t have class Tuesday or Wednesday thankfully. Even then, it takes some illegal dealings to catch most matches, so give him some slack.

John, pull your head in, mate. This isn’t an ‘official’ Liverpool blog. It’s written by a fan. Hey, if you watch every game and you’re nice, maybe you could guest spot occasionally.

Don’t worry, your comment won’t be taken off, but you will be ridiculed for it.

Who’z the best passer in the world?Who’s the best man behind Gerrard?Who’s the centerman with both legs efficient? Before we judge Crouch n’ some others we should say that we miss Alonso n’ Mascherano isnt the his replacement no matter how defense he’s….May God let the two earlier than may b we could get things sorted out but in Mascherano is way too difficult to win with gerrard out of form…May we beat Tottenham in Jesus Name…The best i’m doin so far
