Quick post-Reading thoughts
By: ed | December 10th, 2007Wow. I was away over the weekend and haven’t had a chance to see the highlights but I have read some reports etc. (clearly, this being the internet, this makes me an expert!)
Sounds as if the result wasn’t a true reflection of the game but, having Crouch and Voronin as wingers to a central midfield of Mascherano and Sissoko was asking for trouble. I’ve said it many times, but against the weaker teams, we shouldn’t be playing these defensive midfielders - we need creativity in the centre of the park if we’re to win. That’s what we’ve been doing with marked success over the last few weeks and that’s what we need to continue to do.
That being said, their penalty sounded 50-50 at best and we were unlucky to hit the bar/post when we were looking to tie things up again. But if this is the only game we lose from now until the New Year, going through some very tricky games (Chelsea in the League Cup apart), I’d be delighted. Especially if we win against Marseille and Man Utd.
