Masche’s goal
By: Brian | July 9th, 2007If you haven’t heard by now, Javier Mascherano, World Class destroyer/holding midfielder scored his second goal for his country, Argentina, in the Copa yesterday. It is also the second consecutive game he has scored and his second overall goal for the tourney. Ruud Van Nistelrooy better watch out, his world’s greatest goal poacher title might be in jeopardy. Not only did Masche score another goal, he is also in spectacular form right now, playing the best football of his career and he has re-established himself as Argentina’s best central midfielder and regained his spot in Argentina’s starting lineup. That is also good news for Liverpool.

The previous comment is 100% correct.
Masche also suffered in the second half of last night’s game what looked to be a nasty twist of his right knee but he of course refused to leave the game, came back and continued playing as if nothing happened.
Masche is a WARRIOR !!!! and the heart and soul of Argentina.
Benitez was very wise to sign him, Masche was wasting away at West Ham and Benitez saw through that and realized that Masche is a great player who just needed playing time and support from his manager.

Any player who can make us forget Didi Hamann is about as close to godliness a player can get.

i’ve always liked mascherano very much
when tevez and he came to west ham, it was such a shock cos these are 2 truly world class playersbut my fear is… just what kind of relationship does he have with Liverpool? is he really a Liverpool player? or is he on loan? or what? how long is his contract? do we “own” him in the traditional sense that we are have complete negotiating rights with anybody else who might wish to purchase him?
anybody has any concrete evidence?

I don’t know about concrete evidence, but the latest I’ve read/heard was that he is still officially ‘on loan’, but from whom I have no clue. I personally don’t expect him back after next season, but we’ll have to wait and see. I know he’s a great player but Momo will get better and if not, we can always play Xabi in that role.
