Dunfermline: Living in a Hammill wonderland

By: Brian | April 30th, 2007

Since joining the Pars on loan from LFC near the end of January, Adam Hammill has turned a cellar-dwelling squad into a formidable opponent for their SPL brethren. With their 1-0 win at St. Mirren today, they are now 7-4-4 since his arrival and have managed to get within one point of their opponent today and a chance of avoiding relegation. Not to mention they are to play Celtic in the Scottish Cup final, and because Celtic is already qualified for Champion’s League, Dunfermline qualified for the UEFA Cup. Though Adam Hammill has only scored one goal for his temporary squad, his play has earned him respect from his teammates, the supporters and has become a player in need of marking from opposing squads.

I really hope this kid will make his way onto our first team squad in the next couple of years. He’s only 19 though and am sure he’ll be in demand for loan in the next couple of seasons. A winger with his sort of talent and ability is a rarity.

Here’s footage of his performance versus Hearts in the Scottish Cup 4th round:

And here’s the video of his song, ‘Hammill wonderland’:

I’m actually a Hearts fan, but I find myself cheering for Dunfermline as well these days and I hope they pull off the miracle win in the Scottish Cup final.

Excellent work - Adam Hammill is the kind of young talent I love to see in the SPL, and definitely has to take some of the credit if Pars survive. As a Caley Thistle fan, now that we are safe for next season, I have to admit a soft spot for Pars, and I really hope they can avoid relegation and send the much less interesting-to-watch St. Mirren back down where they came from last season. As long as that doesn’t mean beating Caley - they already did that once this season and it hurt!
