Anfield Banter: Antwi injured, Heinze not coming, & some international previews
By: Brian | August 21st, 2007* In what was looking like a great season to come for on-loan Godwin Antwi, a hamstring injury has forced the 19-year-old to sit out for up to four weeks. The defender apparently was hurt while in the midst of scoring his first goal for Hartlepool United on Saturday against Doncaster. As they say, it could have been worse.
* In literally breaking news, I can breathe a sigh of relief as a Premier League Board appointed panel voted against allowing Heinze to join our squad for Man U. Now we can either let Insua play more or go after someone better than Heinze, which in my opinion won’t be hard too do. Though why do I have the feeling that this might be appealed?
* Finally, if you’re looking to read about some of our players’ international ties coming up Wednesday, I found a great article about John Arne Riise and Norway facing Javier Mascherano and Argentina, as well as Agger and Denmark’s tie with Finnan and Ireland here. Also Kuyt and Babel were named to the Netherlands squad which will face the Swiss in Geneva. Babel was apparently the only U21 player to make the Dutch squad. Cheers.
