Liverpool vs Sunderland: What will Rafa do?

By: Brian | August 24th, 2007

The most obvious thing Rafa will do is start the players who did not participate in mid-week international friendlies which was Carragher, Arbeloa, Pennant, and apparently Sissoko. As far as I know, Momo did not play for Mali against Burkina Faso. I can also seem him playing players who did not play the full matches for their country, which includes Kuyt, Babel, Torres, Alonso, and Finnan. And I definitely think Reina will be ready to go, he is only a keeper after all.

That leaves only one position, beside Carra at centre back, and being that both Hyypia and Agger played the full 90 for their respective countries, the younger Agger will probably be called on to start. I can’t see him doing something crazy like giving Paletta the start this early in the season away from home.

What I would really love is to see is Leto start on the left, but I’m not sure if he legally can play for us yet. Also, it would be nice to have Kewell fit as well, but if he’s not ready to go, there’s no reason to rush him. Ultimately, I think Rafa will put the most rested, best available team regardless of the match-ups. We should be superior at all positions anyhow. Anyhow, here’s how I see it:

Reina
Arbeloa
Carragher
Agger
Finnan
Babel
Alonso
Sissoko
Pennant
Kuyt
Torres

Bench:
Itandje
Riise
Mascherano
Voronin
Crouch

I don’t think we’ll have much trouble with Sunderland, even though it is away from home, but you never know. As long as we keep up our aura of not undermining our opponents as we have this season, we should be fine. Cheers.

I guess that makes Keano 100 times the player Lamps is. Sounds about right.

Keano had to leave his hometown to win trophies, Stevie-G still hasn’t left, even though he could have.

yowie11, Benayoun played for Israel during midweek and though that doesn’t exactly rule him out, I think Rafa might save him for Toulouse at Anfield next week.

Scoring is all that matters, huh? You’re an idiot.

When Stevie is fit, Lardpard sits. Or he fakes an injury like he did for Andorra. Ha ha ha ha!

I think only scoring matters in football…else who would have loved to see drab draws [:P]…Im sane enough to know this…
Take this one….Lamps wont be sitting on bench atleast next couple of matches thats for sure..and he will score

How many times muppet Gerrard had to play out of the position because of Lamps..doesnt that say the story..who is more important?

Ohh…yes muppet Gerrard can play in any position…but there are too many errors…back pass…remember something…:)

It shows that Gerrard can play better than Fat Frank even when he’s out of position.
