Well, that was FUN…Weekly POLL
By: CSD | November 13th, 2008Not much to say about the Spurs clash on Wednesday, if you want to call it a clash. I think it was more of a thud; the thud being any hope we had of our reserves being able to accomplish something. Oh well, at least it wasn’t Burnley.
So-yeah. I was really hoping that Rafa would have put some more experience out against the Spurs, but he definitely has his mind made up about going for the league and it seems this is one of the decisions he had to make to hopefully hit that target. It’s not like anyone really cares about the Carling Cup, but losing sucks. That brings us to this week’s poll question. Do you think Rafa made the right choice with his team selection?
Should Rafa had fielded a better side?

It’s good how people vote yet don’t explain their choice. I think he should have. Maybe not a starting XI, but you know, a little more power in the squad would have been nice to see, mighta given ‘pool a better chance.

I think Rafa is sending out that statement of intent that the emphasis is not on some dinky cup (so go ahead Spurs, knock yourselves out). And when else can he field his second stringers, if not during outings like this. It goes to show that he’s saving the best XI for the league, ucl and probably FA. And yeah at least we didn’t lose to some Championship side.

i think the problem was not who benitez chose, but the performance of those chosen. Like dossena and degen – both were trash against spurs. Even though degen did get forward, he then had to track back to defend but could’t and his marking and decision making was poor (maybe needs more game time to get used to pace) and dossena… omg how the hell we gonna offload him for more than 7mil pounds.
but also i think the starting line up needed a playmaker, like a xabi or benayoun because no one in the starting 11 had that sort of quality. maybe even pacheco ahahaPosted from

Who cares about the Carling Cup? Save our legs for the times that matter and give the kids a chance. I’d never root against the team, but I’m somewhat glad we’re out of it so this argument doesn’t keep coming up.
