Chelsea wanks off the ref, get draw

By: Brian | August 19th, 2007

In what was probably one of the worse refereed matches ever, Liverpool loses two points because the ref is a ponce. That wasn’t a penalty, if anything it was a foul on Malouda, or Daffy Duck, or whomever. He wasn’t even playing the ball. Obi Mikel tries to stomp on Stevie-G hands, gets away with it. Malouda gets beat and tries to clip Gerrard and gets away with it. Lampard stomps on Xabi’s foot and only gets a yellow? Michael Essien gets two yellows and doesn’t get sent off? Styles clearly showed the card to him, no one else is around, yet doesn’t write it down. Rubbish.

I’m not even angry, in fact, I’m bemused. I expect no less from Mickey Mouse FC, ruthless as their racist Godfather Walt, kind of ironic with their Headhunters past. We actually earned our goal, but then again we’re the class club. Anyhow, I guess they could call this a moral victory if they knew what the word meant. Anyhow, congrats Chelsea, you finally made history today outside of those battles with the Bushwhackers.

I don’t know if I’ll bother watching this match again, it was such a laugh, I don’t want to waste my time. Anyhow, Sunderland next. Cheers.

I just wanted to add that Stevie-G was far and away the best the player on the pitch, even though Pennant put in a solid performance which left me baffled as to why Babel was brought on for him when Riise was clearly having an off day. Also, Xabi was not up for it and Mascherano would have done wonders, in my opinion. Gerrard’s performance though, on a fractured toe, is what makes him a legend at the ripe old age of 27. His effort alone is why that penalty was complete rubbish.

Not a reds fan or chelsea for that matter, but I saw the game and agree. liverpool got screwed, no doubt. The penalty was WEAK. And numerous other calls. I can’t believe that guy is a top level ref

Jason, I was too baffled to get angry. And yes, anyday that United loses and we draw, can’t be that bad of a day.

LuvMaster, agree, it’s over. We have bigger fish to fry.

kevin, agreed, he called a much better match last year and I’m not saying that because we won, I’m saying it because he stayed out of the game and in control. Not only was he not in control today, he got in Stevie-G’s way a couple of times. Maybe he’s Abramovich’s mystery mistress. You can’t blame him though, money talks.

Maybe the way to handle poor officiating is to post video clips of the offender to publicly shame him. It would be at least as interesting as ‘highlights’.

Rob robbed the show. In 2nd half any player who kept the ball for 40 secs, he was getting booked or freekick was given.
As far as penalty goes, it wasn’t a blatant dive by Malouda.Malouda did dummey hence he was in air, to which finnan pushed him to gain the control of the ball hence Malouda fell on ground even though Drogba was having the ball. It was neither a penalty nor a dive. By the way drogba was having a ball in very good position and no marking. He is good enough to slot the ball in from that position.

4th official has confirmed only Terry was shown the yellow card. Essien was told to go away (with the card in hand). Essien’s confusing reaction resulted into 2 yellow cards debate.

Lampard’s tackle on Xabi wasnt that bad to get him straight red.

BTW somewhere I read (on some forum), “justice was done to CL 2005 semi goal from moon”.What goes around, comes around. In this case I would say it applies. These points may cause you some title trouble in worst case scenario.

I agree about Rise having an off day, he really didn’t put them under much pressure. Your bunch was clearly robbed today though, that penalty was absurd.

You would think a rivalry with clubs of this magnitude would be a great advertisement for Premiership football, but its far from it. As a true neutral, this game was a horror show, albeit a fairly intense one. You can complain about the awful refereeing, and there was plenty of it, but neither team did enough to win the match. And if you weren’t invested in either team, it was torture.

Yes, what the heck was that freakin call in the box??? That ref sucked big time. There shouldn’t have been a call at all. I guess the ref had his Chelsea Whiners uniform on under his refs garb.

By the way, what’s the story about Crouch? The guy has more goals per minute than anyone in the PL yet he’s been put on the bench? He’s what got me interested in LFC three years ago. Do any of you know why he’s been relegated to sub-status? Yeah, Kuyt, Riise and Torres are great but Peter makes things happen. Educate this Yank.

    Cheers

Worst mistake ever? Not even the worst mistake of the season, for that you could go and see Gerrard ‘winning’ a free-kick just acouple of weeks ago. Funny how 1) everything evens itself out over a season 2)Football fans forget what they’re players do when they are in a blind rage at someone else.

Adam, I can do that too. Malouda is a cheat, Drogba would have missed, Styles clearly holds the card up to Essien when he wouldn’t move from the ball, and I wasn’t talking about Lampard’s tackle but after when the ref was standing right there and had already awarded a free kick to Xabi.

Terry, let me educate you, since you obviously don’t actually watch Crouch play and just spew stats. He turns over the ball at least twenty times as often as he scores and he was absolute rubbish in this match again.

blue defender, you’re not referring to Luis Garcia’s goal are you? Yeah, well, you guys could have actually gotten close to scoring in either match to at least make it interesting. 5 > 0

Roberto, you are having a laugh. I seem to recall a rubbish penalty in the Villa match, but let’s just ignore that. Furthermore, it’s a lot harder to do what Gerrard did then what Lampard did.

Malouda was absolute garbage. He can play well against Birmingham and Reading, but when comes to class opposition, all he can do is cheat.

    Rob Styles apologizes…

Styles said: ‘All referees enter into matches hoping not to make any mistakes but understanding that they may happen, what none of us want is for any mistake to potentially affect the result of the match.

‘Yesterday, in mistakenly awarding a penalty, I accept that I may have affected the result of the match and for that I apologise.’

re: Roberto – it wasnt only the “penalty” incident, it was the double-booking, no-walking of Essien, the constant yellow cards, the blowing up for pointless reasons. As for the Villa game? I agree with Brian, the penalty Villa had are you messing? Even so, how can you even compare the standard of refereing between the two games?

LOL Brian. Yeah, you’re right. I don’t watch. Maybe only 15 to 20 games a week is all. And stats, they don;t mean anything. Kind of like the grades you probably received in school. They don’t tell anything about anyone – right?

Brian, I asked for a serious answer to my question. If you want to get into a pissing match, we can do that elsewhere.

As far as Crouch in that game, come on, he was on the pitch for a total of what…….11 minutes?

    Cheers folks.

Terry, Crouch doesn’t play 15 to 20 games a week. If Torres has shown us anything, it’s that we need a strong forward who can bully defenders, worry them, and not turn over the ball every time he touches it more than three times. Crouch is rubbish and we should sell him to the highest bidder and buy a back. We can play Leto on the left and move Babel up front when needed. If you want a ’serious answer’ instead of getting in a ‘pissing match’ try to avoid statements like ‘Educate this Yank.’

Brian, there is a difference between answering a question with a civil educational answer than to slam someone in order to make yourself feel like a big man behind a computer screen. Your initial answer to me was a slam — not a civil “educational” answer.

    Brian, I watch 15-20 games a week. I ref 4-5 games a week. I hold a B-list coaching cert.

I asked for a serious answer from someone that would give me an answer without the attitude. So, since you don’t have the nads to give an “educated answer” without making yourself looking like a bloody idiot, I’m out of here. Take your blog and stick it up your arse.

Terry, your response reeks the childish nature of Andy at the Chelsea blog. Saying ‘educate this yank’ is not asking for an ‘educated’ nor serious response. You can take take your B-list coaching cert and shoved it up your idiotic ass. The bottom line is, Crouch is more of a burden and not good enough for a team going for the league. Cheers and do us all a favor and bother someone else.
