I agree with you, Isaiah, though I didn't want to say it, but I think Torres is a wee bit overrated.

Skillzy, I'm hoping that's true.

V-Spot, you're a United fan, never comment here again... just kidding.

Croco dog, I honestly don't think we have to add much except a world class striker, so whatever price West Ham wants for Tevez we should probably pay it. I thought Pennant, Kuyt, and to some extent Aurelio (free transfer) were good pick ups. Bellamy went sour down the stretch as did Arbeloa. We need to bolster our interior defense and Gabriel Milito might just be the one to do that.

If we happen to open the chq book to buy, it will be too late, all the best players will be taken. We will have to shop for second class players. Torres, Mauloda, Trezeguet, Silva haven't played in the EPL before. Not tested. Tevez was good but the asking price is too high (for Liverpool only). Remember Gonzalez, 1 season b4 coming, he was confident he will be a success. End up he SUCKED cess.

It will be same as last season.... we waited & waited for some stars to come to Anfield. Alas, no one came. This coming season, we will be playing with the same players. No new ones except Voronin. So much of promises by the owners. If Benitez can't get the cash to buy the players he wants, I guess he will leave for Real Madrid, provided Real do not win the La Liga, where they will sack Cappelo.

I honestly don't know enough about Torres to make a proper assessment but I did find him very impressive at WC 2006. As for his durability, if that is in fact a problem, then that's a big problem if you're thinking about bringing him to the EPL.

As for Forlan, as a United fan I know all too well of his shortcomings but I also know that he definitely showed some glimpses of brilliance with us. Glimpses that became standard form for him at Villarreal. I think he's grown a bit since being at Villarreal and he wouldn't be a repeat flop in the EPL...but 16 mill? I dunno about that...

When I first read about Liverpool targeting Forlán I wondered, briefly, if someone in their ranks wasn't smoking something perhaps a bit too strong. As a Barcelona supporter, I'm pretty vocal about replacing Gudjohnsen and Saviola with someone worth their absurd price tag (Torres for anything more than 15million is an absolute ripoff and it's actually probably true of him at 10million too, but I have a low opinion of his durability in the Spanish league, much less the more physical EPL). Forlán fits the bill a little better than most seem to think, or at least he does in my opinion. He's been a solid performer since leaving ManU and I think some of this nonsense Henry business is like the Beckham saga back when we were really going after Ronaldinho.

I'd like to think we'll pick up Forlán and take away any anxiety kopites may have about his potential return to the isles (and probable subsequent failure). He may be 28, but he's damn good in La Liga where he has more space to operate so I'd like to see him stay...and become one of us, though I'm not sure he'd enjoy being second fiddle to Eto'o.

I just want to repeat that moving Torres to the EPL would be a disastrous move for whoever did it. Much like Sheva, only "El Niño" isn't as good. Maybe I'll eat my words in a few months, but somehow I doubt it.
