Liverpool vs Toulouse: the starting line-up

By: Brian | August 15th, 2007

Reina
Finnan
Carragher
Hyypia
Arbeloa
Benayoun
Gerrard
Mascherano
Babel
Voronin
Crouch

Subs:

Itandje
Agger
Riise
Torres
Alonso
Kuyt
Sissoko

Good to see Mascherano out there. The only surprise for me is Hyypia over Agger, hopefully that won’t hurt us with the lack of pace back there. We do have Masche to curb that though, if it gets out of hand. Looks like we’re going to try and end this round today.

1-0 on a nasty Voronin strike from just outside the top of the box. I missed the first 27 minutes or so and when I started watching it looked like everyone was just standing around waiting for something to happen. Toulouse is being a bit physical and getting away with it at times, but for the most part have not been threatening.

Seriously the GolTV color commentator is the worst i’ve ever ever ever heard.

Agree. The TV guy was a ponce who mentioned how Momo coming on for SG was an “offensive” sub. That said, we looked dreadful. As did the opponent. As was the commentator.

I didn’t watch it on GolTV, but if the guy said that, he’s an idiot. I don’t think we needed Gerrard at all for this match and with how unnecessarily rough the Toulouse players were being, Rafa was probably afraid he would get injured.

Listening to the French announcers online provided quite the kick. I laughed everytime “Muh-mo” got a touch.

As for the play itself, Liverpool’s play seemed pretty sloppy but then again, I don’t know if I’m really qualified to make a statement like that (yet).
