Video: U21s Hit Chelsea for Four

Liverpool got four second half goals from four different players tonight as Rodolfo Borrell's U21s went top of Group Three with a 4-1 win over Chelsea at Griffin Park. Samed Yesil made a solid debut marked mostly by relative wastefulness in front of goal--based off his form for the German U19s over the past two weeks you'd have expected him to take the chances he had, but he was a threat up front and played a part in a handful of good first half chances.

Jack Robinson and Dani Pacheco were among Liverpool's best on the night, with the former getting the opener as part of an excellent all-around display and the latter doing very well on the left. Stephen Sama was up there as well, using his size when needed and showing good decision-making with the ball at his feet. Interesting to see Adam Morgan on the right, where he often cut in to his favored left foot and opened up from range; we're more used to the instinctive, poacher-esque finishes, but tonight he looked more interested in testing Jamal Blackman's goal from distance. He won the penalty that Conor Coady took for the second, though, and put in a typically hard-working performance on both ends of the pitch.

Krisztian Adorjan, who had a very good night on the whole, got Liverpool's third with a well-taken shot from twenty yards, and substitute Michael Ngoo did well to muscle past a defender and curl one around Blackman to put a bit of gloss on the scoreline. Unfortunate that he was booked for his post-goal celebration, in which he revealed an undershirt that read "96 Reasons 4 Justice." For some the most notable squad selection was Suso's omission, as the Spaniard had featured regularly under Borrell and seemed far off first-team action. Combined with pre-match rumors that he and Yesil were traveling with the squad (obviously not the case with the young German), there's a fair bit of anxiousness to see if a player many have followed closely will indeed be in the 18 against Sunderland.
