Agger Wants Red Card Appeal

When asked following Saturday's loss against West Bromwich Albion if he felt a red card for fouling Shane Long was deserved, Liverpool defender Daniel Agger insisted it wasn't. When further pressed to say if he hoped to see the club appeal, his response was a simple, "Of course." "Referees are only human," he went on to say. "They make mistakes as well. I was unlucky to be involved in one of the mistakes. It's frustrating but that's part of the game. I've seen it again and again on the television and there is no contact." Liverpool, however, may be wary of challenging the ruling because if the Premier League upholds referee Phil Dowd's decision, Agger's automatic one-match ban for a red card for a non-violent professional foul could be doubled to two.
